Meet the maker

A storybook world built song by song.

Mr B is Blake Robert Mankin, an Arizona-based children’s author, songwriter and performer turning one impossible rhyme into a growing world of books, music and shared imagination.

The idea

Different was never the problem.

What Rhymes With Orange? began with a simple question and grew into a bigger belief: the thing that makes a child feel out of place can become the beginning of something original.

Blake wrote Orange as a character who does not need to change her name or shrink herself to fit. She learns to make her own kind of rhyme, then brings that confidence into friendship, music and play.

As Mr B, Blake writes the songs, shapes the creative direction and brings the story to children in classrooms and live programs. The goal is not only to entertain. It is to give kids a reason to participate, move, imagine and feel seen.

From page to stage

One idea.
Three ways in.

01

Write the story

Build a character and a message children can understand without flattening the feeling behind it.

02

Find the sound

Turn the emotional arc into original songs children can sing, move to and remember on their own.

03

Bring it into the room

Use reading, music and participation to make the audience part of Orange’s world.

The goal is simple: help kids leave with more than a story—and feel brave enough to make something of their own.

The mission

Keep exploring

Meet Orange in the book, the music or your school.
